Integrating science and service to transform mental health
Bringing together research, clinical services, education, and community partnerships to improve mental health and well-being—from South Bend to communities around the world.
The Wilma and Peter Veldman Family Psychology Clinic, which opened in June 2026 in South Bend’s East Bank neighborhood, brings together faculty experts focused on developing innovative methods for the prevention and treatment of mental health issues and dedicated to informing the practice of clinical care across the nation.
Uniting the work of the Notre Dame’s Shaw Center for Children and Families with a new Behavioral Health Research Unit, including a focus on substance use, addiction, suicide prevention, self-harm, and other developing areas, and our Clinical Services, the clinic will foster collaboration among experts focused on evidence-based treatments for mental health issues that can improve lives in the South Bend community and across the country.
